Are People In Nebraska Happier?

NebraskaThere’s another happiness index out — this time from Mainstreet.com which says people in Nebraska are happier than those in other parts of the country.

This particular happiness index used household income, debt, employment and foreclosures to determine where people are happiest.

I’m just not sure that using those criteria are truly a good way to measure happiness.  I’ve written before that happiness isn’t something you can really measure.

Plus, happiness doesn’t just come from financial security.  There are plenty of people who don’t have much in the way of money or possessions yet are incredibly happy.

We don’t wake up in the morning and say, “Oh, I feel about a pound happier than I was yesterday.”

According to this Mainstreet.com happiness index, Oregon is the least happy state.  I find it hard to believe that everyone walking around Oregon is miserable.

Abraham Lincoln said, “Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.”  I agree with that and say let’s quit trying to measure happiness and just be happy.

To your happiness!
